Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is natural medicine at its best. The Chinese began documenting their ideas and experience with medicine more than 3,000 years ago. Over the centuries TCM has continued to evolve as
a comprehensive system of medicine. It includes a vast body of knowledge of practical health and healing techniques, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, body work (qi gong), dietary therapy and exercise (tai chi).
Traditional Chinese Medicine
The ancient Chinese recognized that a vital energy resides in all life forms. This energy (Qi) flows around and through the body in pathways like shallow streams of water. Fine needles are placed gently into specific points along these streams to
manipulate and regulate the flow. Acupuncture helps to relieve the symptoms of many health problems. It activates our natural self-healing ability, removes blockage and restores the natural flow.
Chinese Herbal Medicine
Chinese herbal medicines are plant, animal and mineral substances that are prescribed for internal use or applied externally. Traditional Chinese Medicine uses the traditional healing properties of food to correct imbalances in the body. Proper nutrition is crucial in the prevention of disease. Chinese herbal medicines are considered to be a concentrated food source.
An herbal formula may consist of as few as two or as many as twenty different substances. These herbs and formulas have undergone thorough pharmacological testing, clinical studies and trials. They have been used effectively for thousands of years. They are balanced formulas which produce results and have few side effects when used properly.
Jin Shin Jyutsu®
Jin Shin Jyutsu® brings balance to the body’s energies, which promotes optimal health and well being, and facilitates our own profound healing capacity. It is a valuable complement to conventional healing methods, inducing relaxation and reducing the effects of stress.
Jin Shin Jyutsu® employs twenty-six ‘safety energy locks’ along energy pathways that feed life into our bodies. When one or more of the paths becomes blocked, the resulting stagnation can disrupt the local area and eventually disharmonize the complete path of energy flow. Holding these energy locks in combination can bring balance to mind, body and spirit.
Jin Shin Jyutsu® can be applied as self-help, and also by a trained practitioner. A Jin Shin Jyutsu® session generally lasts about an hour. It does not involve massage, manipulation of muscles, or use of drugs or substances. It is a gentle art, practiced by placing the fingertips (over clothing) on designated safety energy locks, to harmonize and restore the energy flow. This facilitates the reduction of tension and stress which accumulate through normal daily living.
TCM integrates well with conventional medicine. It speeds healing and recovery after surgery, reducing the number of days in rehabilitation. It relieves anxiety and pain, reduces the side affects of chemotherapy, and is effective in comforting the very ill. It is a safe and cost saving health care.
Traditional Chinese Medicine can be a safe and effective therapy for treatment of:
• recovery from injury, illness or surgery
• muscle and skeletal pain
• common cold and sinus problems
• respiratory problems
• allergies and auto-immune problems
